Get rid: Everton fans urge club to sell Morgan Schneiderlin this summer

[ad_pod ]

Everton fans have called for their club to sell midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin in this summer’s transfer window.

Schneiderlin joined Everton from Manchester United in January 2017 and has made 70 appearances for the Merseyside outfit in all competitions.

The 29-year-old has struggled to make his mark for the Toffees, though, and will see his current deal expire in the summer of 2021.

Speaking to Winamax, the 6 foot 1 Frenchman hinted that he could leave Goodison Park ahead of the 2019-20 campaign in search of pastures new.

And it would be fair to say that the Everton fans want that to happen.

Schneiderlin only made 14 Premier League appearances during the recent season, contributing just one assist and zero goals.

He was so impressive at Southampton but has fallen away badly in recent years, also struggling at United ahead of a switch to Merseyside.

Worth every penny: Tottenham fans react as Real Madrid reportedly set Bale price

[ad_pod ]

According to ABC.es, Real Madrid have placed a £76m valuation on Gareth Bale, who Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing back to the club, as reported by The Sun last month.

The 29-year-old only scored eight La Liga goals for Los Blancos during a disappointing 2018-19 campaign.

The Wales international has a contract at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2022, however, and is therefore in a strong position.

According to ABC.es, Real Madrid are keen to sell the attacker this summer but are looking for a price of around £76m.

Due to Bale’s current struggles it is perhaps easy to forget just how impressive the Welshman is when in full flow.

Tottenham saw plenty of magical moments from the former Southampton youngster during his time in the English capital, that is for sure.

Transfer Focus: Blades identify Baldock replacement

[ad_pod ]

Last week it was reported that Celtic have made a £3m bid for Sheffield United right-back George Baldock, and that move may well be heading towards fruition as the Blades are seemingly eyeing up a potential replacement.

An article from Football Insider has claimed that the Yorkshire outfit are interested in Todd Kane, who is set to be released when his contract expires this month.

What’s the story?

Despite only ever being a Chelsea player, Kane has been somewhat of a journeyman for the past few years.

The full-back has been loaned out a staggering eight times since 2012, but time has finally been called on his Stamford Bridge career.

During his eight-year spell at the London club, the defender never made a single senior appearance, but he has been racking up experience in the lower leagues during a multitude of loan spells.

Last season the Englishman plied his trade at Hull City, where he had a decent campaign.

His performances for the Tigers impressed enough to draw Premier League interest, with Chris Wilder’s side showing an interest in the 25-year-old along with Aston Villa.

Baldock on the way out?

That the Steel City outfit are chasing a new right-back less than a week after Celtic reportedly bid for Baldock is unlikely to be coincidental.

The Scottish champions have apparently made an offer for the defender and, with the Blades now expressing an interest in Kane, it appears that foundations are being laid for life after Baldock.

Check out the moment Sheffield United fans knew promotion was secured in the video below…

It’s unlikely to be a popular decision amongst the United fans if the 26-year-old is allowed to leave for just £3m, but if Wilder can continue his trend of getting the best out of players, Kane could prove to be a great replacement.

Manchester United fans react to report Red Devils turned down superstar swap

[ad_pod ]

In what is already proving to be one of the biggest sagas of the summer transfer window, the Paul Pogba rumours are seemingly never-ending.

The France World Cup winner has endured a difficult time to say the least at Manchester United and reports in recent weeks had suggested he could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.

Now, an update from the The Independent has revealed European giants Paris Saint-Germain raised the possibility of swapping their own superstar, Neymar, for United’s Frenchman.

The report claims that a potential deal was rejected by United and that news saw fans of the Manchester side flood to Twitter to voice their opinion on the matter.

Many expressed their relief that Neymar wouldn’t be joining the club this summer and insisted that his “prima donna” nature was exactly the sort of characteristic they didn’t need moving forward.

Indeed, with the report’s suggestion of United having to match the Brazilian’s £900k-a-week deal, some admitted that they were glad that they weren’t choosing to sign another star on extortionate wages.

Assessing Aston Villa’s wide problem: Harry Wilson vs. Said Benrahma

[ad_pod ]

Aston Villa’s 2018/19 campaign went above and beyond expectation.

Hit with financial trouble last summer, the club were bought by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens. In the process, they saved the football club and with the help of Dean Smith who replaced Steve Bruce last October, the platform was set.

After suffering play-off final heartbreak last year, bouncing back in the way they did took steel and determination.

But a different type of character will now be required. Villa officials surely have bigger ambitions than merely fighting for survival next term, but that must be the focus before anything else.

Ahead of a return to the Premier League, the Villans have already been busy in the transfer window. Last week they confirmed the signing of Jota from Birmingham whilst Anwar El Ghazi has also signed on a permanent deal after his loan spell came to an end.

Both wingers, it’s an indication of where Smith’s men will have to significantly improve in 2019/20.

El Ghazi was inconsistent at times throughout the last term but he more than deserves his permanent move. Jota, on the other hand, is a more questionable transfer.

However, two men who could go some way to solving the issues that largely still remain on the flanks are Harry Wilson and Said Benrahma.

The former was the subject of a report from The Mirror last week suggesting that Liverpool would command £21m for his services amid interest from the Midlands club.

Elsewhere, Villa have had a bid rejected for Brentford’s Said Benrahma according to Sky Sports. The fee initially reported was €10m (£8.9m).

But what would the pair offer if one of them did make the move to Villa Park this summer?

The instant go-to statistic when comparing the two wide players is the number of goals they scored in the Championship last season.

In 43 matches, Wilson notched 16 goals, finding the net with a combination of set pieces and strikes from open play.

In comparison, Benrahma scored just ten goals, but he played in five fewer matches. He also made nine appearances from the substitutes bench. But what’s interesting is that despite the number of goals scored, the Bees wide man averaged more shots per game.

Last season, Andre Green and Albert Adomah scored just five goals between. The difference in quality two of Villa’s transfer targets could offer, therefore, is massive.

The pair are capable of playing on either flank, something that could be pivotal in helping to solve Villa’s problematic wide area.

Yet, it’s in terms of classic wing play that arguably makes the Algerian a better option.

The 23-year-old is sensational with the ball at his feet, regularly getting himself out of tight spaces with his quick movement.

For Brentford last term he showed how good he can be in one-on-one situations and it’s that aspect of his game that could be game changing. In his first year in England he completed 2.4 dribbles per game, whereas Wilson only managed 0.5.

If you compare that to members of the Villa team, the only two players who come close are John McGinn and Jack Grealish who racked up 1.9 and 1.8 respectively. Benrahma, then, would address a clear gap in the current Villa squad – the absence of a player who can really run at opposition defenders.

In a Premier League season where scoring goals to keep them in the division will be important, Wilson perhaps offers a favourable solution in that regard.

However, the more all rounded aspect of Benrahma’s play when positioned on the flanks would be far more beneficial for what the Villans are missing, particularly if you assess the 14 assists he claimed.

If Smith can reunite with a man he only brought to English football last summer, it would be a masterstroke.

Transfer Focus: Baldock is the right-back upgrade Celtic badly need this summer

[ad_pod ]

Celtic are interested in signing Sheffield United right-back George Baldock, according to The Daily Mail.

What’s the story?

Baldock has recently won promotion to the English Premier League with the Blades, but the paper say that the player is interested in a move to Celtic and could be let go by manager Chris Wilder.

With just one year left on his contract, the Hoops are said to have opened talks about the potential transfer already, making an initial approach on Tuesday and discussing an opening offer.

If things move quickly, it appears he could become one of Neil Lennon’s first signings this summer.

Was Georgios Samaras a better player for Celtic than fans gave him credit for? Keith from C’mon the Hoops explains why he was in the video below…

What Celtic need?

Celtic definitely need a right-back this summer.

Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan have both left the club, leaving just Mikael Lustig, who has yet to commit to a new contract beyond his current deal at Celtic Park, which expires this month.

Baldock, at 26 years of age, is a player in his prime who would be a significant upgrade in the position having impressed in the English Championship last season.

Lustig just doesn’t have the all-round game to be Celtic’s first-choice right-back anymore and Baldock’s pace and strength will give the Hoops a new dimension on that side of the pitch.

Some would argue Baldock is good enough to give the Premier League a go next term and that makes him more than good enough to be successful in the Scottish Premiership.

If Celtic can work out the details they should move quickly to sign him considering how difficult they’ve found it to recruit in the position in recent years.

Aston Villa fans divided over Emre Mor speculation

[ad_pod ]

Aston Villa’s transfer plans continue to mount with the pursuit of Turkey international, Emre Mor, per The Sun.

The 21-year-old is attracting the interest of all three newly-promoted Premier League clubs; Villa, Norwich and Sheffield United.

A winger by trade, he is currently playing for Celta Vigo after previously developing at Borussia Dortmund.

However, reacting to the news of a possible switch on Twitter, a host of Villa fans were left divided over whether he’d make a good addition to the Villa squad.

Some fans were unconvinced as one claimed he was more interested in cars and women, making reference to some of the attitude problems he’s had at Vigo. Another suggested they didn’t want bad egos at the club.

Yet, some supporters were keen on the 15-cap Turkey international. One said that they could have a class player on their hands but a further commented he had good skills.

Mor played ten times in La Liga last season but failed to score or assist a single goal. In his career to date his development hasn’t really gone to plan, scoring just two goals in his last 50 outings for his respective clubs.

Here’s the best of the reaction from Villa fans.

2019/20: Five key dates that will decide Liverpool’s title dreams

[ad_pod ]

After clinching the coveted Champions League trophy for the sixth time in their history, Liverpool will be aiming to finally break the curse and bring home a Premier League title in the upcoming season. With the 2019/20 fixtures now officially out, we take a look at five key dates that could very well decide Liverpool’s title dreams.

21 September, Chelsea (A)

Even though the Blues finished an incredible 25 points behind the Reds, both of the games Liverpool played against them were a struggle. Klopp’s troops managed to take the three points at Anfield but Chelsea held them to a one-all draw at Stamford Bridge. This will be a clash of old rivals and the first real test for last year’s runner-ups in their title chase.

5 October, Leicester City (H)

The Foxes can hardly match Liverpool in a whole season marathon but the start of October is pretty tough for Klopp. First they have to welcome Leicester before going away to Manchester United and then playing Spurs at Anfield, all in a span of 20 days. Fixtures like this one against Leicester are trap games where crucial points for the race are easily dropped because the focus often shifts to the seemingly more difficult matches that lie ahead. Liverpool will need to be professional in this one and get the job done – something they failed to do last term to kickstart a run of four draws in six games.

“It reminds me of a bus seat!” – Watch a damning verdict on Chelsea’s new kit in the video below…

9 November, Manchester City (H)

This one hardly needs an introduction and both fixtures against Manchester City could easily find their way on this list. However, winning at home against their biggest rivals still relatively early in the season could set the tone for the rest of the campaign and make a trip to the Etihad a bit less scary. The alternative, however, is pretty bad – City taking the psychological edge early in the campaign.

4 December, Everton (H)

The first Merseyside derby kicks off at the start of December. Last year, Liverpool barely scrapped three points off the Toffees at Anfield with a one-nil win and then only managed to pick up one more when the hosts swapped in March. This fixture on its own could spell trouble but it gets even worse because that game is sandwiched between Brighton (H) and Bournemouth (A), all to be played in the span of only a week.

17 May, Newcastle United (A)

The last fixture of the 2019/20 season for Liverpool will be against a really tricky opponent for the Reds. Newcastle United away is a game Liverpool fans remember quite well. Last year it took three goals with the winner coming in the last minute to finally break the hosts and take the three points. If the title race drags on, this could make for one dodgy finale for Jurgen Klopp and he’ll want to finish things off earlier.

Arsenal fans frustrated as reports claim club will miss out on Markus Schubert signing

[ad_pod ]

Having seen Petr Cech retire at the end of the campaign and with David Ospina set to join Napoli, Arsenal only really have Bernd Leno and the returning Emiliano Martinez as their frontline goalkeepers.

Unai Emery’s side will be playing Europa League football once more next season and that will surely mean the side’s number two shot-stopper will get some very decent playing time.

Reports in recent weeks had suggested the Gunners had targeted Dynamo Dresden’s highly-rated star Markus Schubert to come in on a free transfer, but an update from German publication Bild now claims the goalkeeper will join Bundesliga side Schalke instead.

After hearing the news that the 21-year-old had potentially snubbed the north London side at the last moment, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations.

Many thought it was typical of the state of the club that even players on a free transfer were turning them down and simply admitted that this was just going to be another ‘near miss’.

Some even expressed their concern that having seen a month go by without the club making any significant moves in the transfer market, they were worried that it might be indicative of the whole summer and that they would struggle to get anyone in.
